Sophie was born in 1972, in Lyon, France.
From her earliest age, artistic activities and painting in particular had been part of her life. She graduate in 1996 of the INSA of Lyon (engineering school), where she as well had art & design training.
In 2004, she interrupted 7 years of professional activity working as an engineer, moving to Dubai to follow her husband with their 5 years'old daughter. She then dedicated most of her time and energy to paintings, and explored deeper her self-learned technique of mixing medias and colours.
The starting point of her work is paper, that she is collecting througout time: papers of every thickness, patterns, texture, decoloured by time or spotted with moisture , old yellowish newspaper of any languages, stamps, or even bank notes from the countries she passed by...
She then uses a palette knife to spread out oil painting over the canvas, creating more or less abstract compositions. Colours ranging from relaxing and warm beiges and grey to vibrant and vivid red and browns reflect the states of her mood.
After more than 2 years in Dubai, the entire family, joined by the little Sarah born in 2005, is now settled in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, where the latin american culture is giving new influences to Sophie's artwork.
